Tour Description

The town, named for the Hindu goddess Kanyakumari, a manifestation of Parvati, is a significant pilgrimage place with a rich cultural history. One of the main attractions is the temple dedicated to the goddess Kanyakumari, known as Bhagavathy Amman. Situated on a small island off the shore, the Vivekananda Rock Memorial honours Swami Vivekananda, who is believed to have achieved enlightenment here. The 133-foot-tall Thiruvalluvar Statue, which is situated next to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, honours the Tamil poet and philosopher. Kanyakumari Beach is well-known for its picturesque surroundings and multicoloured sand. The Gandhi Memorial was constructed in Mahatma Gandhi's honour.
