Tour Description

The town, named for the Hindu goddess Kanyakumari, a manifestation of Parvati, is a significant pilgrimage place with a rich cultural history. One of the main attractions is the temple dedicated to the goddess Kanyakumari, known as Bhagavathy Amman. Situated on a small island off the shore, the Vivekananda Rock Memorial honours Swami Vivekananda, who is believed to have achieved enlightenment here. The 133 foot tall Thiruvalluvar Statue, which is situated next to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, honours the Tamil poet and philosopher. Kanyakumari Beach is well known for its picturesque surroundings and multicoloured sand. The Gandhi Memorial was constructed in Mahatma Gandhi's honour.
